09:54 am - 27/01/06 Reviewed 27/01/06 Reviewed
A review of our Saturday gig. By Ally (www.myspace.com/screenstar_loveliness ) who we met through My Space and who came and said hello on the night.
My Pet Junkie Club 85 (Hitchin) 27/01/06 Awesome drumming a broken lead and a captivating bassist is what the crowd all wanted. Other bands that played that night were Ormost Ordinary, The Rocketeers, Black Peppeur, Boom in the Diamond Industry. The night was for the Rythmes of the world Fund raiser.
I learnt one thing from the night and that is you never know what you are going to get from this band! They played a set of 6 songs, though one of the songs that they played experienced a problem with Stu's guitar lead near to the end, but luckily he managed to make music from the end of the lead until they fixed the problem. Leon of course managed to wow the crowd with the most amazing drumming solos that I have ever heard in my life. The beautiful Julia played with contentment and the solos that were produced by Stu fingers were immense.
They played music with effects that made the stage vibrate and people’s hearts thud to the sound of the music. People were so amazed by the sounds that all they could do was stand and let the music take over them. They played Shut up you fool, peace comes easily and my favourite HRT and Coffee and 3 others.
My Pet Junkies Unique style mixed with their passion to play is why this band are so amazing in every way!!

03:37 pm - Take Hat... Good afternoon.
Tonight we are playing at the Hat Factory in Luton.
The expression 'mad as a hatter' originated in Luton... the dye that the hat workers worked with poisoned their brains and sent them stark raving bonkers or summat.
Hopefully there won't be any ghosts of loony hat makers attending the gig tonight.
See you there MPJ xxx

07:59 am - Something old, something new... Just a quick reminder...
MPJ are playing two very special gigs at Club 85 over the next couple of weekends.
The first gig, taking place tomorrow (Sat 1st Oct), is "something old"...we'll be performing all the songs from our first two EPs!! This is a very rare opportunity to to hear vintage MPJ tunes, some of which have not seen the light of day for years!! Will we remember how to play them? Will they still sound how you remembered? Make sure you're there to find out...
The second gig on the 8th of October - "something new" - will see us unleashing our new material - how can you resist being one of the first to hear our brand new songs?? This is a one-off chance to hear no less than THREE new songs in one gig, so don't miss it!
Hope to see you there.

10:09 am - Spandiddly Thanks to anyone who came to our gig at the Mean Fiddler last night - we have an AWESOME time, and it was great supporting Girlschool - watching middle aged women tear up some serious heavy metal shit was simultaneously very surreal and very cool!
We've got 2 special gigs coming up - we're playing at Club 85 this Saturday and the Saturday after, and we've decided to do something a bit different. For the first gig we are going to play songs from our first 2 EPs back to back - that's right, all the oldies that we never play anymore!! And for the second gig we are going to play loads of NEW SONGS that have never been heard before!!
Hope you can make it along to both of them!

01:33 am - Mean Fiddler Mean Fiddler...no, not a Dickensian character, but a fine venue in London what we is playing on Sunday 25th. We're supporting Girlschool, a girl band who apparently used to support Motorhead in their heydey... It's our biggest gig yet, and it would be great to pack the place out with Junkie fans - if you can make it down we would shower you with Junkie love. But not in a sexual way (please note that Leon is not included in this disclaimer). Tickets are available for purchase on www.stargreen.com
Hope to see you on Sunday J MPJ xxx

02:47 pm - Gig!! For some reason the gigs page of the site has disappeared....come on, own up - who stole it??
Get yourself down to the Hitchin Football club this Sat (13th Aug), as the mighty Vanilla Nightmare will also be performing for your delight and delectation. A hear a band called My Pet Junkie will also be putting in an appearance.
If you can find a better way to spend your Saturday evening, I'd like to know about it. Unless it's pleasuring yourself over pictures of Les Dennis...in which case, keep it to yourself.
Spandage.

04:52 pm - Overhanging on a Sunday afternoon... ...who's happy now? The people who sell Alka Selzter.
Sorry for the distinct lack of site updates of late - my computer tried to leave me for silicon heaven, as he'd heard that he'd be greeted by 80 unused calculators, but instead he went to hell....and the devil (Bill Gates in binary form) told my computer that it wasn't its time yet, and that it had to return to Earth as it had important work to do as the facilitator for My Pet Junkie site updates. Then there were problems with payments not going through to the web hosts (anyone see that scary German warning that appeared last week instead of the MPJ site??) cos my card got cloned and I had to cancel it. But hopefully that's now out of the way.
Thanks to the peeps who came to Ealing last Friday to watch us perform. My eyes and lungs were stinging for hours after Leon's talc trick. Goddamn. Before the gig I went off to get some food, and returned to the pub only to see several coppers outside the venue and a man with a face covered in blood. Ramndom beatings aside, it was a lovely place.
Our next big gig is the Mean Fiddler on 25th September. We're supporting Girlschool, which should be interesting!! We're also playing Hitchin Rugby Club in August, and hopefully will be able to get a few more dates in before the Mean Fiddler - please check the gigs page soon.
Bye for now. And remember, kids - don't eat the yellow snow.

02:54 pm - Thankyou thankyou thankyou... ...to the lovely people who came to our Underworld gig. We were really happy that so many of you turned out - it was much appreciated!!
What a gig it was - we somehow managed to incorporate a SuperMario keyboard and about a litre of talcum powder into the set. Stuart and Julia learnt that, when you are filming for TV, the modern wonder of video editing means you can start a song again if you forget the lyrics or start playing your bass with the volume knobs at zero. Leon learnt that cymbals produce no sound when drowned in an entire bottle of talcum powder. Leon and Stuart learnt never to let Julia get her hands on a keyboard with a huge plastic SuperMario figure attached to it and a variety of beats resembling rythmic flatulence.
As soon as we find out when the gig will be aired and the DVD on sale, you'll be the first to know.
In the words of Snoop Dog, spandizzle my nizzle.

12:42 pm - Tonight, Tonight... Guten tag, meine kleine spandlings.
Apologies for the lack of site updatageness recently - I have yet again managed to kill my computer. I break electrical items so often, it could almost be called a talent. The toll over the past year and a half is 2 cars, 3 work computers, my home computer about 4 times, and a bass pedal. But the computer should be back in action next week (thankyou Chris!!!), and weekly(ish) updates will be once again gracing your screens.
Headlining Rythms of the World last night was one of the most awesome experiences of our lives. I felt completely overwhelmed. Thankyou so much.
We hope that you will come and join us tonight at Camden Underworld for the Alternative Music TV launch party (see www.amtvshow.com for more details). The gig is being filmed for TV and a DVD. Personally, I'm cacking myself! It would be great if people could turn up, scream, dance, sing along and throw pants at us (washed, please).
See you soon J xxx MPJ

03:24 pm - Gig frenzy!!! What has 8 legs and tells the time?
A clocktopus.
What do you mean, that's awful? I got it from a lolly stick in a box of cheap lollies I bought from Morrisons, what do you expect?
Anyway. Next week, we are going into a GIG FRENZY! Wed 22nd - Horn Reborn. We're headlining, and we would be SO HAPPY if you could fill the place with Junkie Love. Thurs 23rd - Lark In The Park, Islington, London. Disappointingly, it's not an actual park with trees and children and jumpers for goalposts, just a pub. Fri 24th - Tap and Tin, Kent. Leon's motherland. Will they be happy to have him back? We'll see... Sat 25th - Togfest, Milton Keynes - we're on at about 8pm. This is our virgin voyage to MK!
Tickets for our gig at the Camden Underworld are now available on seetickets.com - this gig is going to be filmed for the launch of AMTV and made into a DVD of some kind...so be there if you want to be, er, whored out on TV and DVD.
Have a good weekend - here's hoping the weather bucks itself up.

We've got a gig coming up on Sunday 12th June upstairs at the Islington Academy in Angel, London - let us know if you want tickets cos we can sell them to you A LOT cheaper than they will be on the door!

03:34 pm Afternoon, brothers and sisters of the sacred spandau.
We had a fantastic time at Hes Fes in Dorset last weekend, we really hope we are invited back next year. There's some photos of the gigs on the 'pictures' page, and there will soon be a photo diary too.
Upcoming gigs include the Horns in Watford on Monday 23rd, and the Purple Turtle in Camden on the 27th. Loads of other gig listings have been added to the gigs page on the site, so go check it out!
In the meantime, here is a question for you... who would you least like to see naked? Paul Daniels or Jeremy Beadle? Paul Daniels is short and looks like he would be hairy like a monkey...but on the other hand ('hand', ha ha ha!) you wonder what else is withered on the Beadlemeister...
(goes off to 'happy place' in head to escape damaging mental images)

10:32 pm - Attention please! Site has been updated.... and hopefully everything is back to normal now! I pray that the evil computer gremlin has been banished back to the land of random porn spam, lost biros and odd socks.
We're playing the Purple Turtle in Camden on the 27th May (which also happens to be a certain singer/guitarists' birthday...) - hope to see you there.
